Major Roles & Responsibilities


Kraton is looking to hire a new member of our Supply Chain Organization. The Supply Chain Optimization Analyst will assist in the acquisition and analysis of key Supply Chain data to create basis for an optimization tool.  This includes, but is not limited to: inventory management & carrying cost, sales history and demand forecast accuracy, planning rates, supply variability, unit capacities, cost of quality, type change cost and implications, manufacturing operating costs, logistics costs, distribution service levels and stock-outs.
Major Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design, build, testing and deployment of network optimization models (generally LPs and MIPs) using advanced planning optimization tools (SAP APO / SAP IBP / Llamasoft), or where necessary, innate solvers in Excel
  • Assist in the design, build, testing and deployment of inventory optimization models using advanced inventory optimization tools (SAP IBP / Llamasoft)
  • Collaborate with the logistics organization to design, build, test and deploy logistics optimization models to optimize freight and warehouse footprint
  • Assist in the build and testing of Llamasoft Simulator models to determine the most useful tool for the Polymers Supply Chain organization with regard to inventory deployment plans, scenario plans, outages and risk mitigation
  • Provide input on future direction for network optimization and optimization software as the business grows and needs change.
  • Collaborate with the Chemicals division, especially Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) managers and Supply Chain Analysts, regarding network optimization and divisional improvements

Skills and Experience



  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or related field of study from an accredited college/university, with emphasis in Supply Chain Management, along with 7-10 years’ related work experience including knowledge of advanced optimization techniques and proven ability to model complex problems and introduce sensible solutions, or
  • Master’s degree in Operations Research from an accredited college/university, along with 3-5 years’ related work experience including use of operations research techniques in solving real-world business problems
  • Knowledge and training in advanced optimization techniques such as linear and mixed integer programs
  • Advanced knowledge and use of Excel (formulas, pivot tables, power pivots, charts, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic statistical training



  • Lean Six Sigma training or certification
  • Experience in chemical, refinery or polymer manufacturing environment
  • Strong data manipulation skills and database knowledge used in the acquisition of large data sets and building of large optimization models
  • Experience with Microsoft Access, Llamasoft, AspenTech, I2, Manugistics, SAP APO or SAP SCM
