Major Roles & Responsibilities


Kraton Corporation is looking for a Project Manager Capital Projects to manage the execution of capital projects and the capital budget(s) for the Oulu, Finland plant. This position directly interfaces with plant-level leadership teams and engineering staffs to determine design, cost, schedule, and resource requirements to support capital projects and initiatives.  The individual selected to fill this position is expected to manage capital projects from conceptual design phase through the implementation and completion phase.

Major Roles & Responsibilities:

  • This role will manage the capital project planning, including annual and long-term capital plans for the plant.
  • Will work with the plant’s leadership to develop capital plan for plant.
  • Will work with the plant team to utilize the project execution work process consistently.
  • Will work with the corporate procurement group to get best price, quality, & timing on capital purchases.
  • Leads front-end development and planning on capital projects.
  • Develops good monthly forecasting techniques to consistently spend capital based on plans.
  • Works with project teams to develop good cost estimates for capital projects.
  • Utilize the company’s formal capital project execution work process to perform all capital work.
  • Work closely with plant leadership to make sure all capital planning and development is jointly owned by project engineering and the plant.
  • Manage project teams, project scope development, project execution plans, and performing project monitoring for aspects such as budget/cost, schedule, and quality.
  • Review project status, assess project issues, and determine appropriate resolutions to meet performance and productivity expectations.
  • Interface with the plant engineering staff and other internal and external partners on relationship building, problem solving, and trouble-shooting to ensure alignment with project objectives and the execution of work.

Skills and Experience



  • Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other related field of study from an accredited college/university
  • Must have 3 years or more of Project Management and Forecast experience; preference will be given to individuals with experience in a chemical manufacturing setting
  • Must have 5 years or more of experience in engineering and related fields
  • Experience managing capital projects through a formal project delivery system
  • Must demonstrate effective business communication skills, (oral, written, instructional, and presentation) and able to work with personnel at all levels of the organization
  • Able to rapidly acquire knowledge of the site including chemicals used, process operations, and physical layout of the plant.
