Major Roles & Responsibilities

 

Kraton is looking to hire a key member of our Procurement Leadership Team in Belpre, OH.  The Manager, Capital Investments is responsible for all capital purchases (goods and services) for our Belpre plant totalling approximately $50M. This new position will be responsible for establishing a best-in-class capital procurement capability.

 

Major Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement buying strategies and tactics for the procurement of capital items (goods and services) that create a competitive advantage for Kraton
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including Capital Project Engineering, Legal, Finance and Manufacturing to define and execute on capital spending
  • Develop appropriate market information including relationships and contracts with vendors
  • Issue purchase orders for capital purchases; follow-up and expedite as necessary
  • Ensure that capital purchasing strategies and their implementation are supportive of and consistent with Kraton’s business strategy
  • Assume responsibility for vendor and fabricator sourcing, bidding & bid evaluation, negotiation, recommendation for award, contract set-up and management
  • Evaluate vendor reliability and assume responsibility for resolving contract disputes, price amendments or scope variation
  • Develop appropriate supplier and internal customer relationships and manage them in a professional and effective manner
  • Communicate effectively and accurately pricing/market trends, forecasts and purchasing strategies to appropriate personnel within the organization
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts and cost reduction

Skills and Experience

 

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in purchasing of capital equipment and services in a manufacturing environment
  • Able to negotiate and develop effective strategies at high level to ensure lowest cost/best value to the company
  • Establish and maintain effective strategic supplier relationships as well as relationships with key internal customers in order to gain an understanding of their needs to improve the service provided
