Reports To: This position will report to the Health, Safety, Environmental & Security (HSES) Manager.

Major Roles & Responsibilities


Kraton is looking to hire a new member of our Health, Safety, Environmental & Security team located in Belpre, OH.  The Health, Safety, Environmental & Security (HSES) Engineer will improve safety management systems, programs, performance metrics and goals by providing leadership and expert advice in managing process safety risks, identifying opportunities and driving improvements in Kraton’s process safety risk management.


Major Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Monitor federal and state health and safety regulatory developments and develop compliance plans to assure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Improve health and safety management systems and monitor field implementation
  • Assist in development of plant-wide HSES policies and procedures
  • Develop programs to share safety best practices across all operating areas
  • Recommend tracking system to monitor timely closure of action items
  • Provide advice on health and safety matters to site management, operations, projects, and maintenance
  • Participate in field audit program
  • Support facility needs during safety or environmental related emergency events
  • Interface with external agency personnel in reporting, permitting, compliance demonstration, and program development activities

Skills and Experience



  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health or Chemical Engineering or current enrollment in a bachelor level program, with an accredited college/university, in afore mentioned fields
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in plant safety
  • Experience in Process Safety Management in the chemical industry
  • Knowledge of all OSHA regulations
  • Experience with effective health and safety management systems
  • Knowledge of risk assessment techniques and their application (PHA, LOPA and QRA)
  • High energy, productive, team player
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills



  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with manufacturing experience in the petro-chemical field
