Arizona Chemical Earns Prestigious Summit Award from United Way of Northeast Florida

JACKSONVILLE, FL, March 31, 2011 – Employees of Arizona Chemical, the world’s leading biorefiner of pine-based materials, have been honored with the United Way of Northeast Florida’s top honor, the 2011 Summit Award.

The Summit Award was presented during the United Way of Northeast Florida’s 2010- 2011 Annual Campaign celebration event on March 25, 2011. Kellie Hardee, Arizona Chemical Treasurer, accepted the award on behalf of Arizona Chemical’s employees.

The Summit Award is the highest honor presented to organizations that best exemplify the vision of United Way through their spirit, involvement, and leadership during the campaign. Arizona Chemical won the award for companies in Northeast Florida with under 100 employees. CSX (companies with more than 1,500 employees) and the American Red Cross of Northeast Florida (companies with 100-500 employees) also received the Summit Award for their respective categories.

Arizona Chemical’s community-minded employees in Northeast Florida contributed over $106,000, which helped the United Way achieve its $25 million campaign and continues the company’s long tradition of leadership in United Way giving. This level of giving also placed Arizona Chemical in the Platinum level in the United Way’s Circle of Honor this year.

“We are so proud to be honored by the United Way with a Summit Award and to be named to the Circle of Honor,” said Kees Verhaar, President & CEO. “Our team members continue to represent our company in such important ways, and their commitment to being a vital part of our community is inspiring.”
